SOUTH AFRICA: For the first time, the Regional
Tourism Organization of Southern Africa (RETOSA) is
organizing a road show to American cities this
spring with workshops and trade shows specifically
for travel agents and tour operators. Participating

well as tourism boards from the 14 member
countries. The
workshops will be held at the Roosevelt Hotel in
New York City, Tuesday, March 25; at the Novotel in
Toronto, Wednesday, March 26; at the Sheraton West
in Denver, Friday, March 28; at the Meridian in Los
Angeles, Monday April 1; and at the Westin St.
Francis in San Francisco, on Tuesday, April 2.
The
aim of these workshops is to promote the southern
African region, its countries, properties,
incentive travel and multi-country travel within
the area. They will provide a forum for the travel
trade and media so they may meet with RETOSA
members and learn about these 14 fascinating
countries of the southern part of the continent
which offer a unique opportunity to discover the
natural wonders and splendor of the region.
The
program will consist of several informative and
concise presentations by RETOSA for the region, the
tourist boards and the participating hotels and
safari lodges, followed by question time and
one-to-one appointments at the various exhibitor's
desks. It is an ideal way for the American travel
trade to update themselves as well as an ideal way
for new tour operators and travel agencies to learn
about the region. The

American Tourism Market Study The
regional Tourism Organisation of Southern Africa
(Retosa) has undertaken an in-depth tourism study
in North America on behalf of Southern Africa. This
focused study is a result of the noted increase in
the number of visitors from North America to
Southern Africa. North America offers Southern
Africa two particular tourist source markets i.e.
United States of America and Canada. Each has their
own unique wealth sectors and demographics for
separate studies. The
Retosa tourism study aims to bring about
information pertaining to these lucrative markets.
It will deliver detailed analysis of surveys
conducted in the US and Canada. It will investigate
tourism trends, volume and growth and their impact
on the SADC. A
five-year marketing and promotional programme will
be implemented by RETOSA for the Northern American
Market once the research results have been analysed
to ensure that trend capitalisation takes place to
grow the economy of Southern Africa Contact
